Product Description This book introduces the techniques needed to draw the ultimate bishonen (literally, "beautiful boys"), vital to Yaoi manga and presents how to draw the typically delicately delineated bishonen characters. Illustrations accompany the carefully explained, step-by-step drawing processes, which are designed to give even beginners a clear understanding of everything from bishonen sketching basics to practical application. Trends in design are also traced, exploring characters from the 1960s, including the work of Shotaro Ishinomori; characters from the 1970s as represented in Keiko Takemiya's The Song of the Wind and Trees; characters from the 1980s, including from the Captain Tsubasa series; and characters from the 1990s up to the present. Eight styles of reflecting today's characters that represent a blend of such works as Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Death Note and Psycho, are presented along with specific sample works.

Clear Instructions and great Illustrations October 21, 2008 Deborah L. Warner (Los Angeles, CA) This book is an excellent resource for drawing yaoi manga in every style since the genre's beginnings. It has dozens of examples of anatomy and clothing to creat any kind of character.
Just a bunch of pretty pictures September 21, 2007 Kei K. (Alaska, USA) As far as this being an instructional book for aspiring manga-ka it's somewhat of a flop, though I enjoyed the small selection of costumes and clothing that were shown. Over all if you're more in it for learning to draw males better get the how to draw young men book. It's much better in that perspective. Though they both seem to offer about the same instructional insights. There's very little offered on the side of anatomy and actual posing and interaction between a couple. Otherwise it's a very basic manual coupled with a few costumes, poses and an odd manga-short at the back of the book instead of the usual illustration gallery.
I wouldn't recommend this book to aspiring manga-ka, it'd be better to get a drawing young men and couples book instead of this one. You'd get a lot more information out of the two than this one.
Actually, it's Drawing Bishonen September 10, 2007 S. McMichael (The Village, NY USA) 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
I found in past searches trying to find this un-locatable book--it is actually named How to Draw Bishonen in Japanese. Which would explain the minimal boy on boy content--a small section on kisses where the two androgynous bald heads could easily be two girls. However, the anatomy and facial structure sections are vastly superior to "How to Draw Men". It's worth the buy--unless you know how to draw Bishonen all ready.
Buy Lets Draw Yaoi instead! June 11, 2007 kittyfo (secret) 3 out of 16 found this review helpful
I've been Waiting for them to make a "how to" Yaoi book for us fangirls! edited : ah I'm gonna turn this down. i already bought Lets Draw Yaoi and the How to Couple guide and they are efficient enough! plus the review above seems to imply they haft-tried. The Couples guide probably has a the best guide to couples doing lovey dovey things.
I highly recomend inspiring yaoi mangaka buy Let's Draw Manga: Yaoi (Let's Draw Manga)instead! unless i actaully see this book on a shelf i have no idea if its good like i did when i found lets draw Yaoi at a bookstore.
