Pat Buchanan Speaks

by Steve Rider

- Conservative commentator Pat Buchanan says Texas billionaire Ross Perot represents a "mortal threat" to Bob Dole's presidential aspirations. Buchanan, who ranked behind Dole in the Republican primaries, said on CBS' "Face the Nation" that Perot would be an attractive choice for Buchanan voters.

On another issue, Buchanan also took issue with the Republican Party's decision last week to adamantly oppose abortion but tolerate members who have different views. He says he thinks the platform needs to be reworked.

"Tolerance has no place in a Republican campaign" said the conservative, and frequently defeated, candidate. "If we start off tolerating abortions then the next thing you know we'll be tolerating gun control or the existence of homosexuals."

Buchanan, whose crazed and hate filled policies have consistently been rejected by human voters, was speaking at a convention of the National Assault Rifle Association in Washington DC. In his speech he once again pretended to be a Christian.

"God's will is not for federal snoopers to be checking the firing mechanisms on our guns" he said, as black jacketed guards surrounded the podium. "And God never authorized Bill Clinton to tell you which guns you could own."

After a rousing round of cheers, with arms held outright in a militant pose, citizen Buchanan continued. "You never saw two men walking hand in hand in Germany during the 1940s!"

"It's time for America to stop being tolerant. We need more hatred and intolerance in America today." Mr. Buchanan paused again, with both arms once again fully extended, hands tightly clenched into fists, the bright red band around his arm stood out sharply against the black, heavy denim shirt. "In the name of God, no more of this tolerance crap."

Almost as if of a single mind, the large crowd of assault rifle aficionados rose at the same instant. Each with his right arm extended fully and at a 45 degree angle, each with a clenched fist, their black denim shirts buttoned up identically, bright red bands seemingly cloned from one arm to the next they stood.

Behind Mr. Buchanan was the giant mural of Jesus, whose long blond curls form a contrast to his blue eyes. In the mural, commisioned by Chuck Grimsword of the NARA, Jesus holds an assault rifle in one hand and a copy of the US Constitution in the other. Jesus' bright, Aryan good looks are softened by the glint from the barrel of his weapon.

The crowd, arms fully extended and fists still clenched mouthed the last words of Buchanan's speech; "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" in an ever louder chant.
