California AIDS Ride 8
The California AIDS Ride is an annual event drawing thousands of people to ride bicycles 567 miles from San Francisco to Los Angeles in 7 days, to raise funds to help fight AIDS.
In order to participate, each rider must raise $2700. Some of this money is used to provide the necessary support for thousands of bicyclists
traveling together nearly (and some days over) 100 miles a day. The remaining funds are divided between various groups. Because we live
in the San Francisco Bay area, most of the money we raise will go to the San Francisco AIDS Foundation - a very worthy cause.
In the year 2000, Terry and Steve rode together on a tandem.
Terry
This is the FIFTH year in a row that Terry has ridden in the AIDS Ride. In the past five years he has
already raised over $13,000 to help fight AIDS. Terry left San Francisco with 2,800 other cyclists on
Sunday June 3, 2001.
Steve
In 1999 Steve participated as a tent crew member in CA AIDS ride 6. In 2000 he rode with Terry on
their tandem. This year Steve is not riding, but he took lots of photographs.
